The battle between Penn International and MGM Resorts has again surfaced with their intentions to beat the opponent this time in Massachusetts where they are set to put up casino properties. The strong acrimony has already been there between the two magnates of the gaming industry when they had spared no means to outdo the other in the battlefield of Maryland with more than 90 million having been thrown for the poll campaign contributions by both of them, the highest extravagant contest in the history of the state. Last month Maryland witnessed a bull fight between MGM and Penn when MGM managed to be declared the winner with a margin of four over the latter through the 52-48 points round. Thus the Lion, i.e. MGM was entitled to build the property in Maryland.
After leaving the Maryland battle, MGM and Penn have chosen Western Massachusetts to show their might through their expanded plans and with more hopes. After all it is MGM Resorts International that never wants to bow down before Penn International. The people of Western Massachusetts are eagerly looking for the bell to ring at the second round in the fence when the two giants kick off with their activities with vigorous efforts for establishing their individual casino properties in Springfield. In fact, two other operators, i.e. Hard Rock International and Ameristar Casinos could not make up to the final stage with the former’s application not meeting the deadline of the city while the latter just left the field. Now it is MGM and Penn that would be the centre of attraction for the people.
The Central Springfield is the place where Penn National and MGM Resorts International intend to put up resort casinos worth millions of dollars. MGM is expected to shell out an amount of approx $800 million for the complete entertainment property proposed by it at the South End of Springfield while Penn National has on its cards the resort destination on the North End for which it has kept aside an amount equivalent to $807 million.
With the hard-hitting fight yet to be seen between the two rivals filled with deep acrimony against the other through bitter transpiration in Maryland; they have been instructed by the Massachusetts authorities to mend their ways in the new state. However that seems too distant because of their past history. The public at large would be approached by both of them through their spokespersons who would interact with voters from all walks of life by way of their forty-five minute dialogue. That would be the turning point for the voters to decide the fate of the two mighty contestants as to who would retain its status for establishing a gambling resort in the town. The representatives of both the companies would be asked questions from the elite voters to clarify the respective stand of the prospective companies in terms of the future casinos, its features and benefits for the public and the state too. The victory would be with the one who satisfies the public in all respects and wins their votes. Let the actual battle start and declare one of them as the lucky winner.
